We are getting behind it. it just takes time after the initial disappointment that's all. I'm getting more optimistic however. I;m sure you'll find when the t-shirts come out - a lot of folk buy them and go to the rallys etc.
Asking questions is a perfectly reasonable thing to do.
One area that is important is air transport to Scotland. I thought a lot of places do not fly directly to Scotland which I'd have thought was disadvantageous. The same cannot be said of Dublin which has excellent international links.
I wonder how our direct international links compare to those of Switzerland/Austria?

Personally I dont want us to win the bid as I would have more fun in foreign climates than back in Scotland but I,m just being selfish.

Phil - I understand that sentiment but how cool would it be to wake up everyday for a month in Scotland and know it was gonna be another footie party. My vision would be that it would be a very different Scotland to the one we all take for granted. There would be international fans enjoying a bevy from Dumfries to Skye. We'd be guaranteed at least a fortnight of frolicks and then there would still be parties. Its gotta be a goer. What surprises me most is the general lack of interest. I think the 2008 date just seems so far away for a lot of folks but in truth it will all be over by Christmas if we don't get behind it. Folks are already planning Lithuania and Germany next year. I hope they can give at least the same thought to our bid this year. C'mon - a 30 day celebration of footie and bevy in our wee country - thats gotta be worth working towards.

Phil, yes you are being selfish, and at the same time not thinking about it. It will be a month long party.

Mick,
yer wrong mate.
That one was meant to go in the "Jackanory" thread in the others section where it would have made Andy's normal, nae-sense-ata

I'm worried about the problems that are being encountered in Aberdeen...there's lots of oppo. to the site at Kingswells.
I see a new ground in Aberdeen as essential to the bid. It'' form one group along with the new Dundee stadium and it's vital to take one group away from the central belt. It's a a vociferous minority that are opposing the new stadium, but it could be enough to knock things oot o sinc. There seem to be NO alternative plans in place if planning permission isn't given.....if that's the case we'll end up using a revamped Easter Road along with the Dundee stadium and there would be no games in the North-East.
A tragedy, not only because the North East would give fantastic support to the games in Euro2008, but without a new Aberdeen stadium, Scotland's bid is unbalanced and therefore weaker.
I hope this is sorted out sooner rather than later, but I'm not holding my breath...
