Haven't been and personally wouldn't fancy it. Supposedly very dodgy. Cannot get at direct flight from UK so you would have to go via Italy (Bologna & Rome), Germany (Frankfurt & Munich) or Hungary (Budapest)

STV news said that government advice was NOT to travel to that part of Albania.

GET A LIFE!!!

Aparently, from what my Irish mate who went a few years back, if you can get to Bosnia you can get a train from Sarajevo to Skopje, then Albainia an hours drive away.

went there last year after a newcastle match in turin. cheapest way to get there is ryanair to pescara & then the overnite ferry from bari to durres/ durazzo - about Euro 25 I think. Tirana isnt too good for nights out , everything shuts after dark seemingly - try to get Tirana PIls beers - but most bars refuse to stock anythng albanian - it easie to get Sol than Local beer. Theres are a few big hotels in Tirana, seemingly OK, but theres not much in the way of tourists.  trains go form Durres to Tirana for a few pence, but buses are quicker .

the mountainous area is a bit iffy , as is Kosovo, but there are about 20 bususe a day from central Tir. to Kosovo if you want to do it.

its not that bad, but just be carful. Unless U are in a bandit are ( ie much outside the big cities) you wnat have too much hassle. Dnt offend anyone , as a blood fued wll result & it will go on forever.........Theres wont be much contact with women , esp. at night - women dont really go out much!

its not that bad, as long as you keep your wits about you.
