Hoping to take a bit of time travelling around South America later on in the year. Any suggestions on places to see? How easy is it to get around. What I'm looking for ideally is some sort of way for backpackers to travel around the place cheaply.

Fresh ideas

Waster, is that you putting your student grant to good use again. How about paying of the last one! Well it is my tax-payers money.
Or have you heard a rumour that the mighty QOS are planning a pre-season tour?

Oi! No tax payers money for me any more. I get paid to do this stuff! I guess I'm officially a professional student nowadays. It's great - wonder how long before they catch on. (Probably as soon as my boss checks the amount of messages on this and the Queens message boards I suppose!) Still, not into any of this 'paying taxes' malarkey like.

The mighty south at the Maracana. Can you imagine it? Mind you probably a fair bit more likely to be the usual tour of the north east of England to play some teams from the Unibond league!

Something to say

I was in Chile the year before last and had an excellent time although not the cheapest of places.  However it was an amazing really diverse country.

Peru is meant to be wonderful and very cheap but by all accounts unless your Spanish is excellent I would avoid Columbia for obvious reasons.  Argentina is also expensive.

Think I still have the Lonely Planet South America on a shoestring at my folks house in Dumfries which you can have a look at if you like.

Let me know by message or email.

Cheers
