Norway wanted an international friendly against England but have had to settle for a meeting with Scotland.
Berti Vogts' side will take on the Scandinavians at the national stadium - Ullevaal - in Oslo on August 20, 2003.
"We've always been fond of British football in Norway and we've been trying for a long time to get an opponent from Great Britain to Ullevaal,'' said Norwegian football association spokesman Roger Solheim.
When asked if that meant they had tried to get England to come over, he said: "We always try to get England to Ullevaal. We got Scotland, and are very happy about it.''

Would be interesting for Norway to play both of us and then ask them that question again...
I guess they would enjoy beating England more. (Swedish coach, plus the usual fixation with the Premiership!) Maybe they wanted England, but they'll enjoy this one more - despite us tanning their ars*s!

Great news this, anyone who was in Bordeaux the night before the 98 world cup match between the 2 sides will always remember the amazing atmosphere, the 50 a side football match between us [must say they tanned us], then the pipe march round the city centre about 3 in morning where all the Norway fans joined in, amazing memories. Although they weren't too fond of our love for Thomas Brolin.

Ryanair fly from Prestwick to Oslo Torp (allegedly about 90 mins bus ride from Oslo centre!) once a day, seven days a week. Prices around about £120 to £150 return going by this years fares.

Next year is going to be a bloody expensive year. Me and a few mates are intending on going on a summer holiday together only a few weeks before the Norway game. And not that long after we are all off to Germany for the game. Better start saving the pennies and empty the piggie bank.
